Registered Nurse- Per-Diem, Days, 8 AM - 4 PM (2) weekend shifts per month, Outpatient Oncology Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center
About the role
The RN will provide high-quality nursing care to adult oncology patients in an ambulatory setting, supporting chemotherapy/biotherapy administration, symptom management, patient education, and care coordination across the continuum.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to outpatient oncology patients, including assessment, treatment administration, and monitoring
- Safely administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive infusions in accordance with established protocols
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, assessments, and outcomes in the electronic medical record
- Monitor patients for treatment-related side effects and adverse reactions; respond appropriately and escalate care as needed
- Educate patients and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, side-effect management, and follow-up care
- Collaborate with oncologists, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary team members
- Support a culture of safety, quality improvement, and compassionate care
- Participate in patient navigation, care coordination, and survivorship support as applicable
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred or willingness to obtain)
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, emotionally sensitive environment
Preferred
- Minimum of 1–2 years of acute care or ambulatory nursing experience
- Prior oncology nursing experience (outpatient or inpatient)
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification or willingness to obtain within required timeframe
- BSN strongly preferred
- Experience with infusion therapy and vascular access devices (PICC lines, ports)
- EMR experience
