About the role

The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper University Hospital is a pediatric facility consisting of several units that cater to the diverse needs of pediatric patients. These units include the Pediatric unit, Pediatric Intermediate unit (PIMU), Pediatric Kostic Infusion Room (PKIR), and Pediatric Intensive Care unit (PICU). The hospital offers subspecialty services through consultation and referral in areas such as Endocrinology, Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Otolaryngology, Pediatric Surgery, Trauma, and Hematology. Family-centered rounds are conducted daily with an interdisciplinary care team comprising physicians, professional nursing services, child life specialists, social services, and nutrition support. All pediatric units are secured with restricted access for staff, and visitors gain entry via monitored access. Patients wear security tags to ensure their safety. Facilities include a teen room, a spacious playroom for younger patients, and a family waiting room. The Pediatric unit and PIMU have a capacity of 38 beds.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self.
  • Follows established policies and procedures.
  • Communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors.
  • Provides excellent customer service interfacing well with all levels of staff, management, and physicians.
  • Applies Cooper core values.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • 1 year of RN pediatrics experience is preferred.
  • Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse).
  • Current NJ-BLS Certification (Basic Life Support).
  • Certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e. ACLS, NALS, PALS).
  • Part time, 7am-7pm, holidays and weekends required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse).
  • Current NJ-BLS Certification (Basic Life Support).
  • Certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e. ACLS, NALS, PALS).
