Abortion Care

This role supports abortion care through direct clinical triage, patient education, and follow-up, ensuring timely and empathetic support to those navigating abortion services.

Snapshot

As the Registered Nurse you will spend your name in the health center working with the health care team to deliver exceptional patient care in procedural abortions. You will work with a sensitive and vulnerable patient population and be exposed to patients who have experienced trauma.

Union

This role is represented by SEIU, Local 105 and is governed by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement. In order to be fully considered for this role you will be required to complete a Pre-Hire RN Skills Self-Assessment along with this application.

Ideal Candidate

• 1 year of nursing experience with conscious sedation experience, ultrasound experience, and/or experience assisting in abortion procedures.
• Prepared to jump in to provide abortion care and lend your skills to support PPRM patients at this important time in history.
• Enjoy working on a team and have great communication skills with both patients and colleagues.
• Registered nurse with a state license, BLS, and ACLS certified.
• Experienced with IV therapy or IV Certified.

Primary Areas Of Responsibility/Essential Functions

• Absorb physician with abortion procedures.
• Perform laboratory testing.
• Absorb emergency care.
• Screen client’s medical history.
• Provide basic information and education to clients on the procedure, aftercare and birth control.
• Document all client encounters completely, clearly, and in a timely manner.
• Initiate IV access.
• Examine, identify, and properly dispose of products of conception.
• Maintain the integrity of emergency equipment.
• Absorb front desk duties as needed.
• Act as a resource for non-medical staff.
• Administer and account for controlled medications.
• Absorb compliance of OSHA, CLIA, and Board of Pharmacy regulations.
• Absorb routine health center upkeep.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service to both internal and external customers by working towards a positive outcome with any problems encountered.
• Participate in abortion services (participation can include referrals, information, education, counseling, performing, scheduling, etc.).

Full Position Salary Range

• RN I: $32.32 - $ 38.59 / hour
• RN II: $33.84 - $ 45.47 / hour

Schedule

Part-Time ~20 hours/week; Non-Benefits Eligible

• WEEK 1: Wednesday 8am-6pm, Thursday 11am-4pm, Friday 11am-4pm, Saturday 8am-3pm
• WEEK 2: Tuesday 11am-4pm, Wednesday 11am-4pm, Friday 11pm-4pm, Saturday 8am-3pm

Covid-19 Protocol

Vaccination against COVID-19 will no longer be a condition of employment. However, all Health Center/Patient or Community Facing Employees, must have the COVID vaccine or wear a mask at all times beginning November 1st. Proof must be uploaded upon hire. You will upload a picture or pdf of your vaccination card(s) prior to your start date.

Flu Protocol

All employees working directly with patients, the community or working in a health center will be required to have the flu shot or wear a mask during patient/community contact or while in the health center from November 1 – April 30 each year (Flu Season). Proof must be uploaded upon hire. You will upload a picture or pdf of your vaccination card(s) prior to your start date.
