Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maine and graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Clinical experience in PACU, perioperative, critical care, or emergency nursing, with strong patient assessment and monitoring skills.
- Knowledge of post-anesthesia care, pain management, IV therapy, and safe medication administration practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment, prioritize multiple tasks, and respond to urgent patient needs.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate respectfully with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other interdisciplinary team members.
- Competence in using electronic health records and basic computer applications for documentation and communication.
- Commitment to patient safety, infection prevention, quality improvement, and evidence-based nursing practice.
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS certifications preferred or willingness to obtain within a designated timeframe.
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care and support to patients and their families.
Responsibilities
Provides post-operative nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia after surgical procedures.
- Monitoring vital signs.
- Absessing patient status.
- Managing pain and comfort measures.
- Administering medications and treatments as ordered.
- Responding promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other clinical staff to ensure safe, efficient transitions from the operating room to recovery and discharge.
- Patient and family education on post-operative care.
- Documentation in the electronic health record.
- Adherence to all safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
