Role Overview

This position involves assessing, planning, delegating, and evaluating nursing care for a diverse patient group, serving as a primary or accountable nurse based on unit needs and safety considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management
  • Safely administer medications following policies
  • Manage resources efficiently
  • Ensure compliance with practice standards and regulations
  • Participate in the Nursing Shared Governance Model
  • Contribute to improvement initiatives
  • Support peer review
  • Foster a professional development environment for colleagues and students
  • Integrate current research into practice
  • Perform duties related to Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator roles when assigned
  • Maintain mandatory education requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • Current New York State RN license
  • Preferred: BSN
  • Preferred: Clinical experience in acute or ambulatory care
  • Preferred: CCRN certification
  • Preferred: Relevant certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or TNCC
  • Essential skills in pharmacology, communication, teamwork, and adaptability

Work Environment & Patient Care

Work occurs in clinical and office settings, requiring movement, standing, and lifting in a fast-paced environment with exposure to cleaning agents and PPE adherence. Serves patients of all ages and maintains HIPAA access levels as appropriate.
