Registered Nurse – Outpatient Psychiatry - RN

About the role

Outpatient Psychiatry and Psychology at Mayo Clinic consists of multiple outpatient clinics, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs), and procedural areas to address a wide range of mental health disorders. A multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals collaborates to address each patient’s unique needs. This collaborative approach allows for personalized treatment plans that may include therapy, medication management, and other interventions tailored to promote mental wellness.

Responsibilities

• Supports coverage in the Outpatient Psychiatry setting for the pediatric and adult population.
• For New Graduate Nurses: Apply through the Nurse Residency Program for support and exploration of Mayo Clinic opportunities.
• Delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and availability of resources.
• Possesses excellent communication skills; mentors and teaches; may participate on committees or projects.
• May require driving a personal vehicle as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program, as recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA.
• One year of professional RN experience required.
• Psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call.
• Adaptability to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
• Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
