About the role

The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to surgical and other invasive procedures, adhering to AORN Standards and hospital policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe and comfortable environment for surgical patients
• Ensures a safe intraoperative period from anesthesia
• Performs accurate and ongoing patient assessments
• Maintains quality care provided for patients undergoing surgery
• Encourages patient participation in their care and respects their wishes
• Works under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Assists in maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic patient/unit environment
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and staff

Requirements

• Current California Registered Nursing license
• BCLS Certification
• Additional certifications may be required for some specialties
• Resuscitation credentials such as BLS, ACLS, PALS, etc.

Qualifications

• Two years’ acute care nursing experience preferred
• New grad training provided as appropriate
• Knowledge and application of surgical asepsis and sterile technique
• Knowledge of proper supplies, equipment, and instrumentation needed for surgical procedures
• Knowledge of legal aspects of nursing care
• Knowledge of Patient rights
• Knowledge of emergency codes
