USPI Durango Outpatient Surgery Center is an ambulatory surgery center in Las Vegas, NV, offering fast turnover times and personalized service in a high-volume, fast-paced, multi-specialty environment. We have 5 operating rooms providing a full range of surgical procedures including Bariatrics, Colorectal, General Surgery/Robotics, GI, OB/Gynecology, Sports Medicine, Orthopedic, Pain Management, Podiatry, and Spine.

About the role

As the Charge Registered Nurse - Operating Room, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the OR, ensuring the highest quality patient care, promoting team efficiency, and fostering a positive environment. You will act as a clinical resource for staff, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and regulatory standards.

The regular work schedule for this position consists of variable hours, Monday through Friday, during the day shift. Specific start and end times may vary based on operational needs, but the role is generally expected to be performed within standard daytime business hours. Flexibility in scheduling is required to ensure adequate coverage and support for departmental operations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the OR Charge RN, overseeing daily surgical operations and ensuring smooth workflow across multiple ORs.
  • Provide direct patient care and act as the circulating nurse during operative procedures, providing support for breaks or staffing coverage.
  • Responsible for delegation and oversight of operational activities, including daily staffing assignments and training of staff in the care of the patient in the operating room setting.
  • Mentor and support OR staff, facilitating orientation and ongoing education to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
  • Collaborate with Material Management, Radiology, and Sterile Process departments to ensure adequate resources are available and allocated to meet demand of the surgical schedule.
  • Assist with OR education by coordinating and/or giving in-services.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly nursing schedules.
  • Ensure that physician preference cards are appropriately maintained and accurate.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current unrestricted RN license to practice in Nevada.
  • 1+ years experience in a fast-paced, intra-operative setting.
  • Nursing leadership experience.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients, families, and vendors.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS accredited by AHA.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday work schedule.
  • No call required.
  • No nights, no weekends, no holiday work hours.
