About the role

The Registered Nurse Operating Room at Surgi-Center of Central VA will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care of patients in the operating room. They will provide care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Hospital. They will make decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicate appropriate information to physicians, patients, family members, and personnel in other departments as well as team members.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care of patients in the operating room.
  • Provide care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Hospital.
  • Make decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicate appropriate information to physicians, patients, family members, and personnel in other departments as well as team members.
  • May have additional responsibilities as designated by OR Director, or Board Runner, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits and projects.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
  • Licensure/Certification: Current RN unrestricted VA license, BLS Required, ACLS Required
  • Experience: Recent experience in the operating room or perioperative nursing. Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterile field maintenance. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure surgical situations. Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to patient safety.
