Registered Nurse (Operating Room)

About the role

Independently performs the functions of a registered nurse in direct patient care. Utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of developmentally appropriate care. Works in collaboration with other health care professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care to meet the patient and family needs.

Responsibilities

• Responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating patient care. Uses clinical judgment based on nursing skills acquired through formal and informal experiential knowledge and evidence-based guidelines to globally assess the patient's situation and develop an appropriate plan of care, promoting comfort.
• Accountable that patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights, and guest relations.
• Oversees care delivered by the patient care team; coordinates plan of care.
• Provides education and facilitates learning for patients, families, and the patient care team in a way that demonstrates sensitivity to diversity.
• Collaborates with physicians, families, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement an appropriate plan of care that promotes each person's contributions toward achieving the best patient outcomes.
• Advocates for the patient, represents the concerns of the patient/family, and assists in resolving ethical and clinical concerns.
• Accurately and thoroughly documents all patient encounters in EPIC.
• Ensures that Patient Health Information (PHI) is protected and secured at all times.
• Adheres to all infection prevention initiatives (e.g., hand hygiene, proper disposal of waste).
• Delivers competent and skilled care to patients and families according to their identified needs.
• Delivers care with a team-orientation, emphasizing good customer relations, sound clinical judgment, and appropriate decision-making based on evidence-based practice.
• Continuously assesses the patient's condition through ongoing evaluation and implements treatment changes, if necessary, in collaboration with the healthcare team, including the patient and family.
• Maintains knowledge and tools to manage environmental and system resources for the patient/family, within or across healthcare and non-healthcare systems.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of clinical job-related experience required.
• Operating Room experience strongly preferred.
• BSN in Nursing.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse current license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (Department specific).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Department specific).
• Pediatric Assessment, Communication, and Escalation Skills (PACES) (Department specific).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (Department specific).
• Certified Nurse Operating Room preferred.
