Registered Nurse - Oncology Infusion Outpatient Procedural - Part Time Day/Evening

About the role

The York Cancer Center has a 28-chair Infusion Room that provides chemotherapy and infusion therapy services to outpatients of the York community and beyond. Our team is committed to delivering safe, high-quality, and compassionate care in a supportive and patient-centered environment.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care.
  • Provides direct patient care, patient/family teaching, symptom management, counseling, and supportive role to assist the patients and their families.
  • May require specialized skills depending on location/unit/specialty assignment.
  • Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and develops individual care plans for patients.
  • Carries out physician orders such as administering prescribed medications or treatments, preparing an operating room, ordering lab tests, x-rays, etc...
  • Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies.
  • Aids provider during examinations, non-operative and operative procedures. Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
  • Aids in patient care related activities such as changing dressings, cleaning wounds, monitoring vital signs, starting IV solutions and inserting tubes.
  • Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.
  • Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties.
  • Prepares and maintains records of patient charges.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Diploma Program Required or Associates Degree Required. Bachelors Degree Nursing (BSN) Preferred.
  • Work Experience: 1 year Nursing experience. Previous Oncology experience Preferred.
  • Licenses: Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required. Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thinks critically, utilizes sound judgment and promptly reports potential patient safety risks to provider and/or manager. Demonstrates good organizational skills in the preparation of daily work schedules and the assignment of duties and responsibilities. Ability to effectively work with and through physicians, subordinates, customers, and other personnel in a cooperative, collaborative manner in order to improve patient care outcomes. Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple tasks. Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient care environment. Demonstrates ability to promote quality improvement through development and maintenance of standards. Ability to maintain professional conduct in all work-related and/or emergent situations.
