Registered Nurse - Observation Unit (RMC) - FT - NIGHTS

About the Role
Delivers quality care to patients through a team effort in working with others through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Assures patient safety by executing appropriate policies and procedures. Provides support for pain management, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, and assists patients and families in identifying individualized comfort measures.
Responsibilities
- Follow up on internal resources to determine the outcome of interventions completed by other departments.
- Mobilize resources in complex cases to maximize patient control and participation in their own recovery.
- Provide information and interpretation of the patient's condition, offering coping mechanisms to both patient and family.
- Assess how much information a patient wants and needs, using vocabulary and approaches that enable successful processing of care and treatment.
- Formulate and document a discharge plan that maximizes the patient's ability to continue meaningful life activities.
- Integrate assessment and diagnostic information with intuition to foresee potential age-specific healthcare needs and anticipate patient needs.
- Ensure handoff communication, including reports on situations likely to develop and problems awaiting the patient.
- Proactively identify issues related to patient education for medication management and provide discharge planning, including instructions on discharge medications.
- Use discretionary judgment to appropriately modify patient care regimens and facilitate appropriate responses from healthcare team members.
- Explore multiple aspects of care regimens with case managers and healthcare providers to promote resolution.
- Develop plans for adjusting staffing patterns as needed and attend educational sessions to improve assessment abilities.
- Plan and provide unique, individualized comfort measures using intuitive and innovative, scientifically sound approaches based on evidence-based practice.
- Participate in unit-based and/or hospital-based committees, performance improvement activities, and Joint Commission readiness preparation.
- Contribute to unit-level efforts to achieve successful Patient Satisfaction scores and maintain awareness of HCAHPS measurements.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Pay
The pay range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position and may be modified in the future. Actual compensation may differ based on assigned hours, position status (e.g., part-time), location, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget, market data, and internal equity. The range for this position is $43.90 - $59.69 per hour.
