About the role
The role involves delivering quality care to patients through teamwork, managing pain and pharmacological measures, supporting patient/family education, and formulating discharge plans. The position requires a strong problem-solving and decision-making skill set, excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, and the ability to anticipate and address patient needs.
Responsibilities
- Executes appropriate policies & procedures to assure patient safety.
- Supports pain management and non-pharmacological measures.
- Assists patient/family in identifying individualized comfort measures.
- Mobilizes resources in complex cases to maximize patients' control and participation.
- Provides information and interpretation of the patient's condition and offers coping mechanisms.
- Affirms patient's ability to continue meaningful life activities.
- Foresees potential age-specific healthcare needs and identifies issues for patient education.
- Facilitates appropriate responses from other health care team members.
- Plans and provides unique and individualized comfort measures.
- Participates in unit and hospital committees.
- Engages in performance improvement activities.
- Attends educational sessions to enhance departmental needs.
Requirements
- Education: Associate's degree or graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Experience: None preferred, but previous nursing experience is beneficial.
- Certifications: AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider, Registered Nurse - NJ, TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale Certification, ACLS, NRP, PALS.
- Physical Demands: Frequent physical demands include pushing/pulling, twisting, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, crawling, wrist position deviation, pinching, keyboard use, repetitive motion, taste/smell, sitting, climbing, standing, walking, carrying objects, talking/hearing, lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Sensory Requirements: Very accurate vision, near/far vision, color discrimination, accurate depth perception, accurate hearing.
- Occupational Exposure Risks: Bloodborne Pathogens, chemical exposure, airborne communicable disease, dust/particulate matter.
Qualifications
Qualifications include strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, high interpersonal and communication abilities, quick adjustment to change, and considerable knowledge of nursing principles and practices.
