Registered Nurse New Graduate Labor and Delivery
This position is for Nursing Graduates working under the direct line-of-sight supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in a clinical setting. The role involves participating in the patient care delivery process, orienting to RN assignments (excluding independent nursing care), and potentially assisting with medication administration under RN supervision. The Nursing Graduate role is available for up to 12 weeks while employees are enrolled in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program and preparing for the State Boards examination (RN licensure). After 12 weeks or upon failing the State Board exam a second time, the employee must transition to another role or face termination. Registered Nurse graduates must be enrolled in and have started the Intermountain Nurse Residency program before providing direct patient care.
Position Details
This is a full-time position requiring 36 hours per week with variable shifts. The role is based in the Labor and Delivery department at Riverton Hospital. Three 12-hour on-call shifts are required within an 8-week period.
New Graduate RN (Unlicensed) Entry Pay: $32.27 per hour
Registered Nurse (Licensed) Entry Pay: $35.22 per hour

An RN with more than one year of nursing experience is not required to attend the nurse residency program and should apply to "Experienced RN" positions only.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates understanding of the nursing process and collaborates with the RN to develop, implement, and revise the patient plan of care.
- Assessment: Collects patient data (e.g., vital signs) under RN supervision, reports significant changes in patient condition, and completes accurate documentation.
- Planning: Observes and discusses with the RN the prioritization of patient needs and the development/modification of the interdisciplinary plan of care.
- Implementation: Observes the implementation of the patient plan of care, considering specialized needs such as physical, emotional, social, age, and ethnic factors.
- Evaluation: Reports patient responses to treatments and collaborates with the RN to modify nursing interventions as needed.
- Participates in patient/family education under RN supervision, based on assessments, diagnoses, learning readiness, and requests.
- Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for patient care delivery within their defined role, routinely discussing all aspects of care with the RN.
- Recognizes and adheres to legal/ethical implications of care delivery, including compliance with regulatory standards, accurate documentation, and confidentiality.
- Achieves RN licensure in a timely manner per Intermountain Health standards, completes orientation and training requirements, and successfully progresses through the Nursing Residency program.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing (RN) education program (education will be verified).

Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent verbal communication with care providers, patients, and visitors, including hearing and understanding spoken information, alarms, and needs quickly and accurately, especially during emergencies.
- Manual dexterity for manipulating complex and delicate equipment, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation, accessing information, and medication preparation.
- Ability to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve/lift/carry supplies and equipment (including heavy items).
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients, pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment (including heavy items), and navigating crowded/busy rooms.
- May be required to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
- For roles requiring driving: Ability to drive a vehicle, including sitting, seeing, and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
Pay
$32.27 per hour (New Graduate RN - Unlicensed Entry)
$35.22 per hour (Registered Nurse - Licensed Entry)
