About the role

Banner Health’s New Nurse Experience (NNE) is a full-time Registered Nurse position designed to transition new graduates into fully competent, professional nurses. Successful candidates are placed in specific units at Banner Health facilities and receive clinical mentorship from unit staff and educators. The program offers multiple career pathways and development opportunities, and participants are expected to remain on their assigned unit for at least 12 months to complete comprehensive training. New graduates must live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility they are hired into.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
• Review patient history and physical with patient/family and ensure completion within appropriate timeframe.
• Review diagnostics and laboratory data and report abnormal results to physicians and other caregivers.
• Formulate and revise a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data, and the medical plan of care.
• Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team.
• Evaluate patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members.
• Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a timely and accurate manner.
• Provide care based on the best available evidence and participate in research activities within clinical practice.
• Promote/support the growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
• Contribute to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
• Actively participate in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes.
• Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts regarding patient care.
• Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.

Requirements

• Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted at select locations.
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI) or ability to obtain before start date.
• No more than 12 months of RN experience.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.

Unit Overview

Banner Thunderbird Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Neuro and Trauma Progressive Care Telemetry Unit. This dual-specialty unit cares for high-acuity neuro and trauma patients, including severe brain injuries, stroke, seizures, brain tumors, and pre/post-op neuro surgery. The patient population is highly acute, often with limited mobility, requiring a collaborative approach and a strong team dedicated to nurse success. The unit emphasizes excellent teamwork and unit culture.
