Responsibilities
- Educates patients on diagnostic and treatment procedures
- Develops and revises patient educational materials
- Serves as a resource to cancer patients, addressing health concerns and participating in educational outreach programs
- Coordinates and participates in weekly multidisciplinary conferences
- Tracks scheduled procedures, follows pathology results, and monitors meeting outcomes
- Buils relationships with community physician practices/groups to grow market share
- Engages and enrolls healthcare providers in the Cancer Navigation Pathway Program
- Promotes the Cancer Navigation Pathway Program to community and outreach programs
- Researches and develops tools and strategies to market the Pathway Program to area physicians
- Visits physicians' offices regularly, handling issues promptly, and initiating communications as needed
- Ensures physician satisfaction with services and reports concerns to the director on a monthly basis
- Collaborates with the Cancer Institute Director to establish, implement, and evaluate goals related to growth, volume, clinical outcomes, and revenue
- Navigates cancer patients through the pathway program, ensuring efficient and coordinated services
- Facilitates the navigation of cancer patients through the pathway program, ensuring efficient and coordinated services through screening, diagnosis, treatment, and support/educational services
- Establishes and maintains positive communication and relationships with referring physicians, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists, and medical oncologists
Requirements
- In-depth clinical knowledge in oncology
- Positive working relations with the medical community in local areas
- Excellent communication skills and computer proficiency, including fluency in the English language and experience/knowledge of computer use, particularly MS-Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Knowledge of The Joint Commission requirements and local, state, and federal regulations
- Ability to work in a self-directed environment, with the capacity to lead and work with teams, and work independently
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer relation skills
- Ability to provide age-appropriate cancer education and utilize in-house and external oncology resources
- Ability to multitask and function in a stressful, fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated with a clear capacity for independent work
Qualifications
- Associate's of Nursing
- Bachelor's of Nursing (preferred)
- Master's of Nursing (preferred)
Skills
