About the role
The Registered Nurse or BSN position within the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled (MSSD), is responsible for coordinating and implementing health screenings, special health care procedures, and providing training and support to students and staff.
Responsibilities
- Cook up and execute a plan for health screenings.
- Coordinate, design, and implement special health care procedures.
- Train on lifting techniques, basic first aid, infection-control procedures, dispensing medication, CPR, and other in-service as needed.
- Administer medication and other health care procedures.
- Follow proper nursing procedures and maintain appropriate documentation.
- Participate in staffing and IEP conferences to provide information on the student’s physical and health needs when requested.
- Oversee all Special Health Care Plans (SHCP). Ensure they are completed correctly, and all necessary supplies are available.
- Notify parents if additional supplies are needed.
- Take a leadership role in developing and implementing a comprehensive school health plan.
- Accurately complete required reports on or before established deadlines.
- Collaborate with building administrator to maintain an orderly, attractive, safe, and clean environment.
- Maintain CPR training instructor certification.
- Maintain confidentiality of parent, student and staff personally identifiable information.
Requirements
- Licensed as a registered nurse in Missouri.
- Experience with pediatrics and/or individuals with disabilities.
- The position requires a professional license pursuant to state law.
Qualifications and Experience
