Registered Nurse | Medical Unit | Night Shift | Full Time

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
• Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care in accordance with organizational policies and clinical best practices.
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies accurately and safely.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Ensure compliance with Stroke and Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) Core Measures and other quality initiatives.
• Cook up patient care with physicians, case management, and the interdisciplinary team to facilitate efficient patient flow and timely discharges.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning.
• Promote patient safety through infection prevention, restraint monitoring, telemetry monitoring, and emergency response protocols.
• Supervise and appropriately delegate patient care activities to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Nurse Technicians, and Unit Secretaries.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, continuing education, competency training, and professional development.
• Mentor and precept new nursing staff and students, as appropriate.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Licensure & Certifications: Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) License, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, NIH Stroke Scale Certification.
• Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience: Required experience in an inpatient, outpatient, and/or oncology setting, strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative healthcare environment, commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care, ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
