Registered Nurse - Medical Trip Nurse - Registered Nurse

About the role

We currently have a career opportunity for a Full-Time Medical Trip Nurse for Monday - Friday, with on-call duty every eight weeks. Some flexibility is required for additional shifts. Qualified candidates hired for full-time employment will receive a signing bonus of $10,000 ($5,000 payable after six months of continuous employment and the remaining $5,000 after twelve months).

Our focus is on maintaining patient wellness so they can benefit fully from participation in our therapy, education, recreation, and community programs. We follow a unit-based model of care, with a nurse manager overseeing each residential unit. Each patient has a primary nurse who coordinates all care needs. Nurses and nurse managers work closely with paraprofessional care staff for ongoing communication and teaching about each patient. We maintain close contact with families and acknowledge their importance as valued members of the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates scheduling, preparation, and healthcare needs for patients while accompanying them on off-site medical trips.
• Reviews medical history and purpose of the medical trip with the primary nurse and/or physician prior to departure.
• Ensures appropriate supporting data or information is available, such as X-rays, menses, or seizure records.
• Ensures referrals or prescriptions are available.
• Confirms patient identification to ensure the correct patient is transported to the medical trip.
• Documents necessary information in the patient’s medical chart related to the medical trip.
• Participates in patient's pre-operative planning meetings with the interdisciplinary team.
• Reports any incident during the medical trip to the Chief Nursing Officer and completes incident forms for any injury that may occur.
• Consults with medical personnel during medical appointments.
• Demonstrates competency in providing emergency care.
• Performs additional responsibilities as required in emergency situations, including providing assistance during staff absences or shortages, which may include additional weekend and/or holiday time.

Requirements

• Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university (required).
• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university (preferred).
• Experience working with developmentally disabled patients (preferred).
• Licensed Registered Professional Nurse by the State of New Jersey Board of Nursing (required).
• Current certification (required).
• ACLS and/or PALS certification (preferred).
• IV certification (preferred).

Pay

The salary range for this position is $86,775 - $92,249 annually.

Schedule
