Registered Nurse Medical Surgical Unit Full Time Nights

About the role

The RN staff nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Community Hospital/Northwest Surgical Hospital. They collaborate with the patient, the patient's family, and other members of the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and coordinate treatment plans. The clinical RN always works as a team member within the entire facility.

Responsibilities

• Provides care to post-surgical patients in Med-Surg/ICU according to policy and procedure and care standards.
• Maintains knowledge of medications, equipment, expected patient outcomes post-surgery/recovery, and anticipated complications.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care.
• Acts to protect and advance the patient’s best interest.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse Licensure with the State of Oklahoma required.
• Minimum of one year experience in Med-Surg, Emergency, or ICU preferred.
• BLS Healthcare required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS required within 120 days of hire.

Accountability

• Reports to: Director of Nursing/ House Supervisor.
• Supervises: PCTI, PCTII, and HUC.

Essential Functions

• Strength (Lift, Carry, Push, Pull): Heavy (exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 lbs to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects).
• Standing/Walking: Constantly; activity exists 2/3 or more of the time.
• Keyboard/Dexterity: Occasionally; activity exists up to 1/3 of the time.
• Talking (Must be able to effectively communicate verbally): Yes.
• Seeing: Yes.
• Hearing: Yes.
• Color Acuity: No.
• Environmental Conditions: Level: High High exposure to hazardous risks including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment and chemicals. Must follow standard precautions.
• May be required to work weekends or flex schedules.
• Travel may be required.
• Exposed to weather conditions during travel.
• Good mental and physical health to work for long periods of time in a highly stressful atmosphere is required.
