Summary
Registered Nurse, RN plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.
Major Job Functions
- Affirms patient care needs through assessment
- Organizes appropriate patient care based on assessment
- Implements and evaluates patient care plans
- Maintains a safe environment
- Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care
- Administers medication as ordered by physician
- Recognizes and responds to life-threatening situations
- Fosters collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary team members
- Maintains competency in required areas
- Monitors quality of care and adjusts care based on age-specific needs
- Participates in cost containment efforts and accurate charging for patient services
- Supports patients in practicing their cultural and spiritual beliefs within medical guidelines
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
- Completion of Clinical Ladder packet and approval for RN II, RN III, RN IV
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
- Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Organizational and leadership skills
- Knowledge of age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of patients
Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Lifting up to 35 pounds
