Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

About the Role

Provides comprehensive nursing care within a correctional health setting, focusing on individual patient needs according to provider’s orders and recognized standards. Leads and supervises nursing personnel, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and documented care. Observes, assesses, and reports patient conditions, maintaining accurate records of treatment and responses. Adheres to the organizational mission, values, and customer service standards.

Responsibilities

• Planning, delivering, and documenting patient care in a correctional setting.
• Supervising nursing staff and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards.
• Monitoring patient conditions and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current Ohio RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
• Strong knowledge of nursing theory, medical sciences, and nursing techniques.
• Proficiency with medical instruments, equipment, and aseptic procedures.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to foster positive working relationships.
• Physical dexterity and coordination, with the ability to perform tasks requiring strength and mobility.

Preferred Attributes

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Correctional health care experience.
• Certification as a Certified Corrections Nurse (CCN) or Correctional Health Professional (CCHP).
