Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

About the Role

The Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care during hospital stays, assessing patients, developing and evaluating individualized care plans, and coordinating with healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

• Conducts thorough assessments, documents findings, and reassesses patient status.
• Develops evidence-based care plans aligned with diagnoses, lab data, and physician orders.
• Implements and documents nursing interventions, administers medications, monitors IV fluids, and coordinates referrals.
• Communicates patient needs effectively, provides patient and family education, and ensures discharge planning.
• Recognizes changes in patient condition, responds appropriately, and involves families in decision-making.
• Provides specialized high-risk care, manages restraints and pain, and identifies signs of abuse.
• Demonstrates accountability by adhering to quality standards, maintaining current knowledge, and supporting professional development.
• Collaborates with team members, mentors new staff, and promotes a positive, respectful work environment.
• Ensures safety and infection control compliance, practicing standard precautions and reporting risks.
• Delivers courteous, respectful care, maintains confidentiality, and advocates for patient needs.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
• Provides age-appropriate care, manages resources efficiently, and supports hospital values.

Requirements

• Valid RN license in applicable states.
• BLS certification.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
• Physical ability for patient care tasks.
• Commitment to safety, infection control, continuous learning, and professional growth.
• Flexibility to work weekend shifts and adapt to changing demands.
