Registered Nurse, Medical-Surgical (2nd Medical)

Schedule: 3 x 12 hr. shifts per week on the Night Shift (7p - 7a) + rotating weekends. $20,000 sign-on bonus opportunity.

Rutherford Regional Health System is part of Lifepoint Health, a diversified healthcare delivery network with facilities coast to coast. Our General Medical Surgical Unit is an 18-bed unit caring for a wide variety of adult medical patients, with occasional surgical patients as census and care needs require. Responsibilities

• Completes initial and ongoing assessments, including physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care abilities, educational, age-appropriate, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Supervises others and assists with orientation and training of others as directed.

Requirements

• Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).
• Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1-3 years of recent acute care experience within the past 3 years preferred.
• Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a stressful environment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Handle with care certification within 4 months after hire date.
