Role Overview
A Registered Nurse in a Medical Surgical Telemetry unit provides independent, comprehensive patient care, addressing complex physical, emotional, cultural, and social needs. The role involves utilizing the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—for assigned patients, administering medications and treatments per protocols, and monitoring for effectiveness and side effects.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver routine and complex nursing care while managing contingencies in a fast-paced setting.
- Delegate tasks appropriately to other care providers to ensure optimal patient management.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately.
- Assess learning needs and educate patients, families, and caregivers, identifying issues and available resources.
- Demonstrate leadership aligned with organizational competencies and standards of nursing practice.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience preferred.
- Current RN license in the state of employment or a compact license.
- BLS certification required.
- Telemetry training and ACLS certification are provided to all nurses.
