With a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, the professional nurse uses the nursing process in ways that value the uniqueness of each individual and address the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of the diversity of patients served by Jefferson Health. Develops nursing plans of care with the patient and their designated care partner(s) to effectively address individualized needs and priorities, ensuring plans are consistent with cultural beliefs and values.
Responsibilities
- Interacts with co-workers, patients, their family/designated care partner(s), and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Integrates Evidence-Based Practice, clinical expertise, patients, and their family/designated care partner(s) preferences and cultural beliefs for delivery of optimal healthcare.
- Partners with patients, their family/designated care partner(s) in identifying learning needs and priorities, providing education in useful, understandable, and affirming ways.
- Minimizes risk of harm to patients and others by following established nursing practices and protocols and individual performance.
- Uses information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision-making.
- Uses data to monitor outcomes of care processes and employs improvement methods to design and test changes for continuous quality and safety enhancement.
- Functions effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.
- Recognizes the role of patients and their family/designated care partner(s) in providing safe, compassionate, and coordinated care based on respect for patient preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs.
- Creates an environment of belonging and inclusion, demonstrating problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Specialized Diploma or higher).
- Active RN license required in the state of practice (Pennsylvania).
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice, including conveying respect and collaborating in care planning.
- Cultural awareness and ability to connect effectively with diverse backgrounds.
- Effective communication skills, including transmitting, receiving, and interpreting ideas and needs appropriately.
- Ability to assess ailments and injuries, implement treatment plans, and educate patients and designated care partners.
- Knowledge of medication administration, prescription, and discharge planning.
- Proficiency in health information documentation, including recording medical histories, symptoms, and treatment plans.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or completion of BSN/advanced degree within 3 years of hire strongly preferred.
- 1 year of previous experience as an RN in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
Physical Demands
- Lift and carry 40-50 lbs (e.g., pushing/pulling patients on beds or stretchers requiring 29 lbs. push force, lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight).
- Frequent to continuous standing/walking (patient transporters may walk 8-10 miles per shift).
- May be required to perform activities specific to the role, including kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
Pay
Hourly salary range: $39.54 to $56.34. The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.

Workday Night shift.
