About the role
This position serves as a first-line administrative supervisor for a limited work area, providing second-level clinical direction to Licensed Practical Nurses. The role includes acting as a supervisor in place of the Unit Coordinator during afternoons, nights, and weekends. Responsibilities involve ensuring appropriate staffing, facilitating communication among units, and regularly reviewing charting for completion during the scheduled shift.
The position also assists with new admissions, transfers, discharges, and any nursing duties requiring the experience and skill level of a Registered Nurse. The role is highly visible, requiring regular rounding to monitor nursing techniques and compliance with policies and standards of care. Auditing of multiple care areas and focuses is required, along with addressing member, family, and staff concerns in the absence of the Unit Coordinator or Director of Nursing.
Responsibilities
- Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses in the absence of the Unit Coordinator (afternoons/nights/weekends).
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and unit communication.
- Review and ensure completion of charting during the scheduled shift.
- Assist with new admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Perform nursing duties requiring Registered Nurse experience and skill level.
- Conduct regular rounds to monitor nursing techniques and compliance with policies and standards of care.
- Audit multiple care areas and focuses.
- Address member, family, and staff concerns in the absence of the Unit Coordinator or Director of Nursing.
- Process time sheets, approve leave time, and handle counseling, discipline, and performance evaluations for subordinates.
Requirements
- Completion of a degree in nursing or a nursing school educational program accepted for registered nurse licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing.
- One year of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11.
- Possession of a Michigan registered nurse license in good standing.
Alternate Education and Experience: Possession of a master's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of experience, or a bachelor's degree in nursing may substitute for six months of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11.
Pay
This position offers a $5,000 signing bonus to eligible new hires.
