About the role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
Responsibilities
- This Registered Nurse will be a point of contact for this centralized lung cancer screening program.
- Responds to consults, confirms eligibility, and provides the patient with information regarding the screening program and counseling regarding possible findings and program requirements.
- Orders all screening CT Scans as requested by a consult from primary care or other providers; receives the radiologic reports, records the results in the database and reports to the multidisciplinary committee and primary care providers for further evaluation if needed.
- Establish and manage a lung screening database (i.e. registry) ensuring appropriate follow up for all patients in screening program.
- Delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical skills.
- Affords care based on age-specific components.
- Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
- Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
- Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications
- Basic Requirements: English Language Proficiency, Basic Education Requirements, and Current, Full, Active, and Unrestricted Registration as a Graduate Professional Nurse.
- Scope, Education, and Dimension Criteria: Delivers fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical competencies; demonstrates integration of biopsychosocial concepts, cognitive skills and technically competent practice in providing care to clients with basic or complex; demonstrates proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning; executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience and creative approaches to management of complex client care beyond the immediate practice setting.
