Your Mission in Action
The Lead Medical Coordinator oversees the medical services for unaccompanied children. This role involves providing exceptional care to children, assessing and managing their health conditions, coordinating medical appointments, and ensuring timely and appropriate health services.
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to children with various health concerns.
- Collaborate with program departments and regulatory standards to ensure the best outcomes for the children under the care of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).
- Serve as the point of contact with the Division of Health for Unaccompanied Children (DHUC) Medical Team.
- Support and enforce infection-control policies, develop care plans for the medical isolation population following regulatory standards.
- Cook and support staff to ensure they have the necessary tools and resources needed to optimize performance, ensure established program goals, and achieve operational excellence.
- Communicate with direct reports in periodic one-on-one meetings.
- Organize and deliver regularly scheduled staff meetings to communicate present, ongoing, and future updates of pertinent information, projects, and initiatives.
- Work closely with management team to interview, hire, and onboard new employees who are strong cultural fits for Upbring.
- Collaborate with leadership and the People and Culture Team to arrange training; when needed, coordinate and/or provide in-service training for staff development.
- Regularly review employee performance, including goals and progress, to provide developmental feedback: use applicable agency development tools to facilitate growth and development in staff.
- Draft and issue the 90-day and annual evaluations, along with supporting documentation, as per established procedures; work in collaboration with staff to set goals during evaluation periods.
Qualifications
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with a Bachelor’s degree; OR Higher health-related qualification (e.g. Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner)
- One (1) year of employment in public health or a healthcare setting with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care
- Previous supervisory experience
- Bilingual English and Spanish (speak, read and write)
- Valid TX driver’s license with auto insurance
- Must be 21 years of age or older per licensing requirements
- Ability to build rapport with the children and maintain professionalism
- Strong documentation, organizational skills, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and UC information systems

Physical Demands & Work Conditions
- This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time, assisting with responding to emergency situations.
- Position works in a child facility and has constant exposure to children.
- Requires frequent standing, walking and time in dormitory which are areas where children reside.
- Lift, push, pull, move up to 125 lbs.
