Registered Nurse - LDRP - Per Diem

About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment within the Labor and Delivery unit at Robert Packer Hospital. This twelve-bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Post-partum (LDRP) unit delivers 650-700 babies annually and specializes in the care of both normal and complicated pregnancies. Nurses function in multiple roles, including labor and delivery, circulator, scrub nurse, newborn nurse, triage nurse, and recovery nurse, supporting women through significant life moments.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, developing and coordinating individualized plans to optimize outcomes and transitions across the care continuum.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions effectively.
• Perform and maintain essential competencies required by the specific area of hire and population served.
• Advocate for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote patient autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs.
• Foster a learning environment for patients, families, nursing staff, healthcare team members, and the community.
• Ensure safety and quality by identifying and correcting problems, integrating evidence and best practices, and aligning patient, self, and environmental safety.
• Engage in ongoing professional development, practicing at the top of license within legal and ethical parameters.
• Demonstrate leadership through advocacy, influence, and innovation, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to integrate nursing knowledge.
• Model professional behaviors and participate in planning and presenting educational programs.
• Utilize information technology, such as electronic health records and communication systems, proficiently.
• Work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• BSN in Nursing preferred; previously agreed-upon timelines for obtaining a BSN remain in effect, including for those transitioning from the NLRN Program.
• Specialty certification preferred.
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification is unit-dependent.
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse, or transition from the Newly Licensed Registered Nurse Residency (NLRN) Program with less than one year of experience.
• Must meet unit-specific educational requirements during employment as determined by the Nursing Department and Nursing Unit.
