Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout labor and delivery.
  • Assist physicians and healthcare providers during labor, delivery, and emergency obstetric procedures.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments according to physician orders and nursing protocols.
  • Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions accurately and promptly.
  • Educate patients and families on labor, childbirth, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge planning.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to obstetric emergencies while maintaining patient safety.
  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, neonatal teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Support continuous quality improvement initiatives and promote a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program.
  • Previous Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • ACLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring certification preferred or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced Labor & Delivery environment.
