Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns.
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout labor and delivery.
- Assist physicians and healthcare providers during labor, delivery, and emergency obstetric procedures.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments according to physician orders and nursing protocols.
- Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions accurately and promptly.
- Educate patients and families on labor, childbirth, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge planning.
- Respond quickly and effectively to obstetric emergencies while maintaining patient safety.
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, neonatal teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives and promote a positive patient experience.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing program.
- Previous Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification required.
- ACLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring certification preferred or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced Labor & Delivery environment.
