Summary
Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.
Major Job Functions
- Affirms patient care needs through assessment
- Organizes appropriate patient care based on assessment
- Implements and evaluates patient care plans
- Maintains a safe environment

- Functions as charge nurse as assigned
- Maintains accurate and relevant records of patient care
- Administers medication as ordered by physician
- Recognizes and responds to life-threatening situations
- Fosters collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary team
- Maintains quality of care based on outcome indicators
- Participates in cost containment and accurate charging
- Adapts care based on age-specific needs
- Supports patients' cultural and spiritual practices
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Nursing or equivalent required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
- Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Organizational and leadership skills
- Knowledge of age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs
Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, bending, and lifting required
- May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
- Able to lift up to 35 pounds
