About the role
Position Purpose: The primary objective of this position is to provide quality of care. Responsible for the direct and/or indirect care of patients assigned utilizing professional nursing skills and knowledge.
Unit Overview
The unit contains 8 labor beds, 2 triage rooms, 2 operating rooms, and 2 recovery rooms. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:1–1:2.
Responsibilities
- Assess learning needs, readiness to learn, and identify actual or potential barriers to learning; incorporate patient education into daily activities based on age, cultural, and spiritual values.
- Document admission assessment/reassessment, plan, interventions, medication use, and monitor effects and outcomes according to policy.
- Utilize the information management system to enhance communication and document changes in patient condition to all appropriate individuals.
- Prioritize work assignment based on changing situations.
- Communicate transfer of patient responsibility and pertinent information at the bedside and during interprofessional rounds.
- Recognize and integrate patient special needs; individualize care and demonstrate knowledge of abuse recognition and referral.
- Include pain management and supportive care issues in the plan of care.
- Adhere to infection control standards specific to patient care and promote a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BSN required from an accredited school of nursing.
- PA RN License.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS).
- Prior L&D experience preferred.
Schedule
- Per Diem Tier III schedule.
- Minimum 144 hours worked per 6-week schedule.
- 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
- 1 winter holiday and 1 spring/summer holiday.
- Day shift: 7:00 am–7:30 pm.
