Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery - Per Diem

Per Diem position in the LDRP unit at Guthrie Lourdes Hospital, a Women's and Children's Services unit with 16 beds, including a Level 1 Special Care Nursery.

About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment. Accountable for delivering coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based quality care to patients and families, based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, using appropriate care strategies throughout the lifespan. Practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse license in the State of Practice
• BSN in Nursing preferred
• Any previously agreed-upon effective date for obtaining a Bachelor's degree in nursing between individuals and facilities remains in effect, including those transitioning from the NLRN Program
• Any contract with specific time frames for obtaining a bachelor’s degree in nursing supersedes the above point and remains in effect
• Specialty Certification preferred
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification is unit dependent
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse, or less than one year if transitioned from the Newly Licensed Registered Nurse Residency (NLRN) Program
• Must meet individual nursing unit specifications regarding educational requirements during employment

Responsibilities

• Employs Nursing Professional Practice: Assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care. Develops, updates, and coordinates the patient’s plan of care to achieve goals and optimize outcomes across the continuum. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition. Performs and maintains essential competencies as required by the specific area of hire and population served.
• Advocates: Effectively advocates for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs of those served.
• Facilitates Learning: Fosters a learning environment for patients, families, nursing, and other healthcare team members, including students. Facilitates formal and informal learning.
• Aligns Practice with Safety and Quality: Accountable for safety, identifies and corrects problems, and integrates evidence and best practices into nursing care. Uses data to improve patient outcomes. Aligns patient safety, self-safety, and environmental safety.
• Engages in Professional Development: Engages in ongoing professional development, practicing at the top of license within legal parameters. Promotes a culture of inquiry, integrating and disseminating research and evidence-based practice.
• Leader in Practice Setting & Community: Demonstrates leadership as a change agent using collaborative skills. Pay

$39.00 - $54.12 per hour.
