Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology

About the Role

Our interventional radiology department is a four-procedure-room suite providing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for inpatient, outpatient, and Emergency Department patients. Working with a team of medical imaging staff, we provide scheduled procedures Monday–Friday and are available for emergent treatment on a 24-hour basis. Our highly trained nurses deliver comprehensive interdisciplinary care for stable and critically ill patient populations from arrival to departure, including all medical imaging areas such as diagnostic x-ray, nuclear medicine, MRI, ultrasound, and CT scan.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate, communicate, and facilitate optimal provision of care with a team approach involving interventional radiologists, vascular surgeons, and medical imaging staff.
• Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the patient's plan of care from arrival to transfer out of the procedural area.
• Monitor and assist with procedures, delivering care modalities including care of critically ill patients while in the lab.
• Utilize clinical knowledge, critical thinking skills, and principles of case management and adult education to coordinate, implement, and support the plan of care, ensuring seamless, effective, and efficient transitions across the continuum.
• Monitor quality metrics specific to the department and ensure complete and accurate documentation in the patient record.
• Act as mentor, educator, consultant/collaborator, and navigator for students and new colleagues.

Requirements

• Current licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York.
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Baccalaureate Degree in the Science of Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing according to NYS requirements.
• National certification preferred, along with 1–2 years of acute med-surg or ICU experience.
• Orientation and continuing education to maintain knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Work Environment and Hazards

Clinical setting with Class I exposure. Includes occasional exposure to disagreeable conditions (sight, touch, sound, smell, taste), fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, biohazards, mechanical/electrical hazards, burns, chemicals, radiation, and sharp objects. May encounter infectious waste, diseases, and conditions.

Physical Demands

Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently and occasionally lift a maximum of 50 pounds. Requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, and reach. Must be physically and mentally capable of performing nursing processes.

Pay

Pay range: $39.90 – $55.85 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may vary based on location.
