About the role
Ball Memorial’s adult intensive care unit is an 18-bed unit specializing in comprehensive care, focusing on the patient and their family. It is driven by evidence-based practice to provide up-to-date care and pushes the field of nursing forward through a multidisciplinary team approach.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with top medical professionals to advance healthcare and deliver high-level patient care.
- Gain specialized nursing skills such as ventriculostomy/neurosurgery, CRRT/CVVHD, IABP, NIHSS Stroke Certification, Target Temperature Management, TBI Management, assistance with bedside procedures (bronchoscopy, central line placement, intubation, cardioversion, etc.).
- Support local community by providing quick stroke treatment, comprehensive post-arrest care, and comprehensive trauma care.
- Participate in structured support and mentorship programs to transition from novice to expert within the first 2 years.
Qualifications
- Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN) degree; a Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Candidates without a national accreditation may be considered if they have more than two years of acute care experience, subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
- A current active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license is required.
- A Basic Life Support certification through the AHA is mandatory.
- Advanced Life Support certifications may be required based on unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
