About the role

Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine Crown Point, located in Crown Point, Indiana as a Registry Inpatient Registered Nurse. UChicago Medicine is an integrated academic and community health system with multiple primary medical facilities within the surrounding suburbs of Chicago. UChicago Medicine, Crown Point is a two-story, 130,000-square-foot multispecialty care center and micro-hospital in Northwest Indiana, the academic health system's largest off-site facility and its first freestanding building in Indiana.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates ability to manage care within the established standards of nursing care and practice as defined by the state of Indiana and required by hospital accrediting bodies.
• Initiates care to stabilize patient and assists in managing life support needs by collaborating with physician and clinical staff, demonstrating appropriate admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
• Provides high quality and high satisfaction bedside care and administers treatments under the direct supervision of the physician, anticipating patient needs and responding accordingly.
• Accurately and concisely documents services provided within the medical record in a thorough, timely manner.
• Collects laboratory samples and performs lab testing in accordance with CLIA regulations and established policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates ability to perform laboratory Quality Controls and Assessments, and routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function according to Laboratory policy and procedures.
• Participates in QAPI activities including participation in accreditation preparation and survey process and maintenance of accreditation, state, and CMS standards.
• Attends and participates in all applicable facility meetings, training, and development workshops, and reviews/understands all required policies and procedures.
• Ensures proper supplies, appropriate medical equipment and medications are available for patient care and par levels meet patient and facility needs.
• Prepares patient meals in accordance with orders and facility protocols.
• Acts as case manager for patients under their care

Requirements

• Registered Nurse, in good standing, licensed in the state of Indiana.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a hospital progressive care or intensive care unit or equivalent experience.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) and ACLS required.

Schedule

Days – 7:00am-7:00pm - 1/12hr shift/2week pay period = 3 shifts/6 weeks with 1 of those shifts being a weekend shift. 1 Summer Holiday, 1 Winter Holiday & 1 Special Day for the calendar year.
