About the role
The position involves providing safe, quality care to patients utilizing the nursing process as the basis for clinical practice. The department includes any patient care area. Work hours are assigned tour of duty hours and reports to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager. Prerequisites include a BSN preferred, current RN license, successful completion of a graduate nurse residency program orientation or six months' experience as a Registered Nurse, and current BLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Affirms patient safety and quality care through assessment, guidance, and facilitation of workflow on the unit.
- Makes staff assignments based on patient acuity, continuity of care, staff competency, and admit, transfer, and discharge activity.
- Mentors staff, float, and agency personnel regarding unit/department/hospital policies, procedures/standards, and annual goals and objectives.
- Fires and evaluates staff, provides adequate coverage for breaks, and maintains fiscal responsibility by monitoring and adjusting staffing during shift.
- Communicates and collaborates with bed placement and the clinical resource to ensure clinical placement is expedited.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Washington.
- Successful completion of a graduate nurse residency program orientation or six months' experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BLS certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Two years' practice in clinical nursing/leadership in area of responsibility preferred.
- Unit specific requirements available upon request.
