About the role

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center is seeking an experienced Infusion Center Registered Nurse to join our dedicated team. We are committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care to our diverse community.

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patients receiving infusion therapies, identifying needs for immediate and ongoing nursing interventions.
  • Affirms proficiency in venous access, including peripheral IV insertion; experience with central venous catheter, peripheral inserted central catheters (PICC), implanted catheters & ports (Port-a-Cath), and CLABSI (Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections) is required.
  • Maintains compliance with medication administration standards, regulations and organizational policies.
  • Applies principles of infection control and safety.
  • Assists in the orientation of new personnel.
  • Provides clinical supervision of ancillary staff working in the infusion center.
  • Coordinates scheduling of infusion appointments, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and patient convenience.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for patients throughout their infusion therapy journey.
  • Ensures infusion equipment and emergency supplies are available and function properly.
  • Reports equipment issues and ensures timely resolution in collaboration with Biomedical Engineering.
  • Participates in hospital committees as assigned.
  • Maintains compliance with organizational policies, Code of Conduct, Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Ensures continuity of care across outpatient and inpatient settings when applicable.
  • Responds to emergency situations as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current NJ licensure as RN required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • IV (e.g. CNRI) or Chemotherapy (e.g. ONS) certification required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of infusion nursing experience required for PD roles; minimum 2 years of Med-Surge experience.
  • Experience administering transfusions; specialty infusions required; chemotherapy experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong skills in IV access including implanted central venous access devices (Portacath), PICC lines.
  • Experience with patient education and care coordination.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interdisciplinary teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a small-team environment.
  • Schedule flexibility required (including extended hours as needed).

Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of infusion therapy best practices and emerging treatments.
  • Participation in continuing education activities; attendance at scheduled in-service programs; sharing information gained at conferences with colleagues.
  • Ability to maintain current knowledge of infusion therapy best practices and emerging treatments.

Pay

Salary commensurate with experience within posted range $48.82 - $69.09 per hour | Differentials: 10% Evening / 12% Nights / $2.25 per hour weekend

Flexible schedule required (including extended hours as needed).
