Registered Nurse II - West Campus Operating Room
Job Summary/Purpose
The Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
About the Role
This position is for the OR at West Campus OR, which is part of the West Ashley Ambulatory Surgery Facility. The facility has multiple OR suites, endoscopy procedure rooms, a Vascular Interventional suite (VIR), and an outpatient Cath/EP Lab. The patient population is primarily adult with some procedures done on teenage athletes. The surgery is performed on an outpatient basis between the hours of 7am - 5pm, no weekends or holidays.
Responsibilities
- Provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process.
- Delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
- Performs job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, working outside in temperature extremes, working from elevated areas, working in confined/cramped spaces, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, reaching overhead, performing repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, lifting and carrying 50 lbs. unassisted, pushing/pulling objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted, lifting from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. unassisted, exerting up to 50 lbs. of force, maintaining 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes, seeing and recognizing objects close at hand or at a distance, matching or discriminating between colors, determining distance/relationship between objects; depth perception, maintaining hearing acuity, with correction, performing gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements, dealing effectively with stressful situations, working rotating shifts, working overtime as required, and working in a latex safe environment.
Requirements
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
- RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.

Schedule
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: 4-10 hour shifts. Will be required to work a late shift to finish cases; 630-1700. No nights, weekends, major holidays, or call.
