About the role

The Registered Nurse II position at MUHA offers individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients. This role is part of the KER - Geriatric Psych Care (KMC) department within the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).

Responsibilities

• Provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients.
• Utilizes the principles and practices of the nursing process.
• Delivers safe and effective care.
• Interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.

Requirements

• Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse.

• Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, working outside in temperature extremes, working from elevated areas, working in confined/cramped spaces, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, performing pinching operations, reaching overhead, performing repetitive motions, using both legs, using lower extremities for balance and coordination, lifting and carrying 50 lbs., pushing a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair, pushing a stretcher with a patient with one hand, maintaining 20/40 vision, correcting, determining distance/relationship between objects, matching or discriminating between colors, maintaining hearing acuity, performing gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements, dealing effectively with stressful situations, working rotating shifts, working overtime as required, working in a latex safe environment, maintaining tactile sensory functions, and being qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.
