About the Role
Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is hiring an experienced Operating Room (OR) Nurse. This is a full-time, day-shift position with one of the three twelve-hour shifts scheduled on Sunday every week.
As a Registered Nurse with Sentara, you will assess and admit patients, conduct rounding checks, administer medications, communicate with family members, and oversee the overall care of your patients. About the Department
The Operating Room at our rapidly growing Level 3 Trauma Center is expanding to meet community needs. We also offer a PERIOP 101 program for:
- New graduate nurses
- Experienced nurses transitioning to the OR specialty
- Foreign OR nurses adapting to OR nursing in the U.S.
The 15-week OR Internship includes:
- Formal training on fundamental perioperative concepts and standards
- Policy and case study reviews
- Hands-on experience in the OR alongside a trained nurse preceptor
- Peer networking and experience-sharing in a safe environment
- Exposure to evidence-based practice guidelines from AORN (Association of periOperative Registered Nurses)

Requirements
- Virginia or Compact Multi-State RN License in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
- Education: RN-Associate’s Degree, RN-Bachelor’s Degree, RN-Diploma, or RN-Master’s Degree
- 1 year of operating room, circulating, or surgery experience (required)
- 2 years of OR experience (highly preferred)
