Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced acute care environment. The RN will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for critically ill patients while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. This role requires strong clinical judgment, leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process and established standards of care
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Monitor and document patient condition and response to treatment
- Coordinate care with physicians and multidisciplinary teams
- Supervise and delegate care to LPNs, RNs (permit), and support staff
- Administer medications and manage critical care equipment (e.g., vents, A-lines)
- Ensure timely reassessment and adjust care plans as needed
- Support patient and family education, discharge planning, and psychosocial needs
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adherence to hospital policies
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with staff orientation and serve as a clinical resource
- Take on charge nurse responsibilities as assigned
- Support staffing coverage across units when needed
- Participate in committees, education, and professional development
- Engage in research initiatives and continuous learning opportunities
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of ICU experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center required
- Strong critical care skills including ventilators, tracheostomy care, CRRT, medication titration, and A-lines
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage high-acuity patients in a fast-paced environment
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
Required Certifications
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- PALS (AHA)
- TCAR (must obtain prior to start)
- AHA Stroke Certification
Preferred Certifications
- CCRN
- CRRT
- TCRN
Schedule
- 3 days per week
- Every other weekend required
