Registered Nurse ICU

About the Role

As our Registered Nurse (RN), you will facilitate, communicate, and collaborate with the healthcare team and patient/family to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. You will promote optimal patient health, well-being, and safety through the nursing process, adhering to patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act. This role demonstrates personal accountability for relationship-based care and our organizational mission.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient's physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records, and clinical data.
• Evaluate patient's response and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Develop and implement a patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including, but not limited to, IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
• Thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records; document ongoing status, interventions, patient response, and outcomes in an accurate, timely manner.
• Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making.
• Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health and safety and rights of each patient.
• Provide patient/family education through assessment of learning readiness, needs, and ability; provide teaching and evaluate effectiveness of teaching.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement.
• Active and unencumbered RN License in the state of employment.
• BLS from the American Heart Association.
• ACLS from the American Heart Association.
• NIHSS certification.
• One year of RN ICU experience.
• TNCC or TCAR within one year of hire.
• Physical ability to perform medium work: exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• CCRN certification.

Where You'll Work

The Intensive Care Unit at St. Francis Medical Center has 14 beds and specializes in Critical Care, including Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP), proning, and protocols for sepsis, stroke, hypothermia, mass transfusions, and OB hemorrhage. The unit treats medical and surgical critically ill adult patients (18+ years), Level III trauma patients (15+ years), OB emergency patients related to seizure and hemorrhage, and overflow from Med/Surg due to capacity.

Penrose-St. Francis Health Services is a full-service, 712-bed acute care provider in Colorado Springs, comprising Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and St. Francis Hospital - Interquest. St. Francis Hospital features 340 beds and offers a modern Birth Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Cancer Center, Emergency Department, Level III Trauma Center, Imaging Services, Acute Inpatient Rehab, Surgical Services, and Critical Care Unit. It also serves as southern Colorado's base for Flight For Life Colorado air medical transport.

Pay

Pay range: $33.15 - $59.67 per hour.

Schedule

Full-time nights, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (0.9 FTE).
