Registered Nurse, ICU

About the role

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Spring View Hospital is a 7-bed unit that ensures patients receive optimal medical attention and support. This position requires a registered nurse with one year of experience and licenses such as RN, Basic Life Support, ACLS, and PALS.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates professional development and clinical competency; utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation of patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Aids patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Floats to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Manages ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, VAP, and titrates and maintains critical drips on the ICU patient, including knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects.
• Passes a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire/transfer.

Requirements

RN license required. Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire. ACLS and PALS is required within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

One year of experience required. Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually.
