About the Role
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the ICU. They are directly responsible and accountable for the care given to assigned patients, communicating with the physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition, including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies, and abnormal results or symptomatology. The role requires the ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
- Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice.
- Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel in the ICU.
- Maintain standards of care in the ICU.
- Communicate with physicians about changes in patient clinical condition, including hemodynamic monitoring and diagnostic study results.
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and/or treatment response.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
Requirements
- Current and valid state RN License.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
- Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
- Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
- Minimum of one year as a staff RN in an acute care hospital; critical care experience preferred.
- Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
