Job Summary
Serves as a clinical resource to ensure medical services are delivered safely and efficiently, addressing patient needs promptly. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate care at the center. Collaborates with other health team members and the center manager to facilitate patient flow.
Essential Functions
- Serves as a clinical team leader, overseeing day-to-day clinical activities and communicating with providers to manage patient flow.
- Provides recommendations to the center manager for administrative and corrective actions involving Administrative Medical Assistants, Clinical Medical Assistants, and Medical Interpreters/Scanners.
- Trains and supervises clinical medical assistants in competency evaluations.
- Supervises clinical telephone messaging, ensuring timely responses from providers.
- Directly cares for patients, performing assessments, procedures, and assisting with procedures.
- Provides health education and counseling to patients and families, including communication of test results and medication changes.
- Manages patient requests for same-day services, coordinating with providers and the center manager to address patient needs appropriately.
- Expedites patient flow through standing orders and policies for medication refills, referrals, and immunizations.
- Monitors and manages the immunization process, including inventory and record keeping, vaccine storage, and administration.
- Oversees the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program, including provider enrollment and coordination of inactive sites.
- Maintains laboratory services, reviewing quality control, managing inventory, and ensuring proper specimen collection and testing techniques.
- Supervises medication and medical supply inventory, conducting monthly expiration checks.
- Manages the Patient Assistance Program and conducts immunization and vaccination audits at all GBMS center locations.
- Conducts ongoing staff development, including orientation, competency testing, and training.
- Uses proficiency in the EMR to serve as a clinical resource.
Nonessential Functions
- Participates in team/staff meetings; attends in-service meetings and applicable workshops.
- Completes other projects and duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.
