About the role

The House Supervisor - RN facilitates delivery of high-quality, safe and effective nursing care; to assist in the operation of the nursing department according to the legal guidelines of mental health care in the State of Texas: to supervise staff activities according to the hospital's goals and philosophy; to support nursing staff in interpretation and implementation of policies, procedures and nursing standards of care.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers quality general/psychiatric nursing care to patients to support the hospital and program philosophy of care; to ensure the safety and well-being of each patient.
  • Assesses patients through a systematic process of interaction with patient, the patient's significant others, and health care providers, collects and analyzes data regarding the patient's physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, spiritual, cultural and anticipated discharge needs.
  • Develops a comprehensive and individualized care plan for each patient, incorporating their unique needs and the severity of their disease, condition, impairment or disability.
  • Provides direct care to patients, including facilitating social and emotional needs, supervising medication schedules, evaluating patient progress and patient's access to the appropriate level of care and setting.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary professionals to determine and provide the best possible care for patients.
  • Conducts intake assessments, makes nursing diagnoses, and recommends treatment options.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation of patient treatments, immunizations, laboratory results, notes reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones and computer entry of progress notes.

Requirements

  • ADN or BSN from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Valid Texas RN license in good standing required.
  • CPR and Certified in facility approved verbal de-escalation and physical crisis management techniques within 30 days of hire and prior to completion of orientation required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience of healthcare management experience preferred; experience in an inpatient mental health setting at a management level preferred.
