Primary location: Lincoln Building Department, Home Health Agency. Part-time position (24 weekly hours, 0.6 FTE) with a rotating shift schedule.
Responsibilities
- Compliance & Patient Services
- Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
- Support leadership in compliance efforts to meet and sustain regulatory compliance for the department and hospital.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to safety and departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure timely fulfillment of individual certifications and Safety College requirements.
- Collaborate with department managers, nurse council, and magnet representatives to identify and share safety best practices.
- Maintain awareness of CCHMC’s processes and compliance with CMS standards; communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership.
- Systems Thinking
- View patient and family care within the broader healthcare environment, recognizing the role of care coordination.
- Clinical Judgment
- Collect clinical data and follow algorithms, decision trees, and protocols to make appropriate decisions.
- Use available resources to address clinical events and document care plans, outcomes, and patient/family needs.
- Focus on usual and customary patient needs while anticipating future requirements.
- Integrate age-specific and culturally inclusive concepts into patient care.
- Develop care goals and actions through partnerships with patients and families using self-management support.
- Provide structured education and use teach-back methods to evaluate effectiveness.
- Clinical Inquiry & Performance Review
- Follow standards and guidelines; implement clinical changes and research-based practices.
- Recognize the need for further learning to improve patient care.
- Identify routine or unusual changes in patient condition and seek help when needed.
- Use self-appraisal, performance review, and peer review for professional development and competence assurance.
- Demonstrate openness to coaching and mentoring from others.
- Facilitate peer and student learning experiences.
- Collaborate with department managers, nurse council, and magnet representatives to implement and evaluate safety best practices.
- Collaboration & Shared Decision-Making
- Participate in interdisciplinary team discussions and contribute to shared decision-making.
- Engage in shared governance at the point-of-care through unit-based councils or by providing feedback.
- Interprofessional Practice
- Consistently integrate the Interprofessional Practice Model (IPM) into all aspects of practice.
- Advocacy, Moral Agency & Inclusion
- Advocate for patients and families; assess personal values and ethical conflicts in clinical settings.
- Make ethical decisions based on established rules and represent patients when they cannot represent themselves.
- Assess cultural inclusion and incorporate culturally inclusive concepts into patient care.
Requirements
- Associate/Diploma prepared RN from an ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA accredited institution with 2+ years of experience.
- If hired without a BSN or MSN, must enroll in a BSN or MSN program within 1 year of hire and complete it within 5 years.
- Preferred: BSN or MSN from an ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA accredited institution.
- Active Ohio RN license; may require additional state licensure.
- Foreign graduates must have their license validated through TruMerit™ per Ohio Board of Nursing code for Foreign Graduates.
